• “Major Alterations” uses the 3 major chords embedded in the major scale: the I-chord, the IV-chord, and the V-chord.
• This simple song teaches you three new chords: augmented (sharp the 5-note of a triad), 6th (add the 6-note to a triad), and 7th (add the flat 7-note to a triad).
• When we talk about a “seventh chord,” we’re talking about adding the flatted 7-note of the scale to a 1-, 3-, 5- triad. A “C7 chord” is… C, E, G, and B-flat. We also call this a dominant 7th chord.
• Please note: The first time I play the G section of the melody, I play it correctly. The second time, I make an error (actually, I make the same error twice, at about 7:10 and 7:27). The melody should go G-A-B-G-D, not G-A-B-C-D.
